About Jonathan
Jonathan Montes is an Orlando-based actor and singer. He was born and raised in Miami, FL with a passion for acting, singing and directing. Jonathan initially trained in theatre at Broward College. Working on plays like Dark of the Moon and new works/devised theatre pieces including Requiem and Q.E.D..
Jonathan is a graduate of the BFA Acting program at the University of Central Florida. There he trained in classical and contemporary works and gained experience with new works and children’s theatre. Additionally, Jonathan has multiple certifications from the SAFD including Single Sword and Unarmed. The multiple roles he played at Theatre UCF include John B. Thayer at the Walt Disney Theatre in the Dr. Phillips Center in Theatre UCF's production of the Tony-winning Titanic: The Musical as well as Leo Katz in David Edgar’s Pentecost. The latter earned him a nomination for the Irene Ryan Acting scholarship from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
Professionally, Jonathan has performed on The Polar Express™ Train Ride- Orlando. Following his time helping out Santa Claus, Jonathan traveled to Boone, NC to perform in Horn in the West where he played Jack Stuart on select nights and sang in the Horn of Freedom Singers Quartet. Most recently, Jonathan performed in Passage at the Orlando REP as a part of the 17th Annual Writes of Spring.
When he's not acting or practicing theatre, you can usually find Jonathan spending money he doesn't have at Disney on any given day or playing fetch with his cat, Ellie (yes you read that correctly). He loves comic books, animation, running, exercising, and saying just about anything to make you laugh.
